Your details, your choice. Here’s what we collect when you visit, join the early access list or get in touch, why we need it, and how to change your mind.

Last updated 29 October 2026Songai Media FZ-LLC

The short version. We collect only what you type into our forms, plus the basic technical data any website receives. Brevo stores your sign-up for us and sends our updates by email and, if you give us your number, WhatsApp. We don’t sell your data or use advertising trackers. You can leave the list or ask us to delete your details at any time.

Who we are

The Songai Africa is a service of Songai Media FZ-LLC, a company incorporated in the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah, United Arab Emirates. Our registered office is SBAM0117, Compass Building, Al Shohada Road, Al Hamra Industrial Zone – Free Zone, Ras Al Khaimah, United Arab Emirates.

In this policy, “we”, “us” and “our” mean Songai Media FZ-LLC. We decide how and why your personal information is used, so we are responsible for it (the “controller”). Songai Media FZ-LLC also runs The Songai, which has its own privacy policy.

What this policy covers

This policy covers this website and The Songai Africa early access list. It explains what happens to your information when you browse the site, join the list or contact us.

The Songai Africa hasn’t launched yet. Creating, releasing and earning from music will involve new information and new terms. Before launch we’ll publish an updated policy that explains them, and we’ll show it to you before you sign up for the service.

What we collect

What you give us

WhenWhat we collect
You join the early access listRequired: your name, email address and country.
Optional: what best describes you (for example aspiring artist or songwriter) and your WhatsApp number.
Also recorded: that you ticked the box agreeing to updates, when you joined, and that you signed up on this website.
You contact usOur contact form opens your own email app. We receive what you send: your name, email address, the topic you chose and your message.
You receive our updatesBrevo, which sends our messages, tells us whether an email or WhatsApp message was delivered and read and which links were clicked, so we can see what’s useful and stop sending to addresses and numbers that don’t work.

What we receive automatically

Like any website, ours receives basic technical information when you visit. This includes your IP address, browser and device type, the page you asked for and the time of your visit. Our hosting provider uses it to deliver the page and to keep the site secure. Our fonts load from Google Fonts, so your browser also sends your IP address to Google.

Please don’t send us sensitive information, such as health, financial or identity documents. We don’t need it before launch.

How we use it

Why we use itOur legal basis

Planning the launch, for example which countries and types of creator to support firstOur legitimate interest in developing the service. We use totals where we can, not individual records.
Replying to your messages and requestsOur legitimate interest in helping you, and any steps you asked us to take
Keeping the website and list secure, and stopping fake or automated sign-upsOur legitimate interest in protecting the service and the people on the list
Complying with the law and handling legal claimsLegal obligation, and our legitimate interest in protecting our rights

We don’t sell or rent your personal information. We don’t use it for advertising by other companies. We don’t make decisions with legal or similarly significant effects about you using automated means alone.

Email and WhatsApp updates

When you join the list and tick the consent box, we’ll send you updates about The Songai Africa: launch dates, pricing, artist terms and when you can start. We send them by email and, if you give us your WhatsApp number, by WhatsApp. Both are sent through Brevo, and WhatsApp messages are delivered through Meta’s WhatsApp Business Platform. We won’t send you messages about unrelated products unless you have agreed to receive them.

Your WhatsApp number is optional. If you leave it out, we’ll only email you.

You can stop at any time:

  • Email: click unsubscribe at the bottom of any email.
  • WhatsApp: reply STOP to any message.
  • Either: email support@songaimedia.com and we’ll take you off the list.

Stopping one channel doesn’t stop the other unless you ask us to. Unsubscribing removes you from our updates. If you also want your details deleted, tell us and we’ll do that too (see Your rights).

Who we share it with

We share personal information only with the service providers that help us run this website and the list. They may only use it to provide their service to us:

Where it’s stored

We are based in the United Arab Emirates. Brevo stores the early access list in the European Union. Vercel and Google may process technical data, and Meta may process WhatsApp messages, in the United States and other countries. This means your information may be handled outside the country where you live.

When we transfer information across borders, we use the safeguards that your local data protection law requires. Examples include the provider’s data processing agreement and standard contractual clauses. We only use providers who commit to keeping information secure.

How long we keep it

  • Early access list: until The Songai Africa launches in your country and for up to 12 months after that. If you unsubscribe or ask us to delete your details, we remove them sooner.
  • Proof of consent and unsubscribes: for as long as we need it to show we had your permission, and to make sure we don’t email you again after you have opted out.
  • Messages you send us: for up to 24 months after we’ve dealt with them.
  • Technical logs: for the short periods set by our hosting provider.

We may keep information for longer if the law requires it or if we need it for a legal claim.

Cookies

This website doesn’t use advertising or analytics cookies, and it doesn’t track you across other websites. Signing up sends your details straight to Brevo without placing tracking cookies on this site.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you can ask us to:

  • tell you whether we hold information about you and give you a copy
  • correct information that’s wrong or incomplete
  • delete your information
  • limit how we use it, or object to how we use it
  • give your information to you, or to another organisation, in a portable format
  • withdraw your consent at any time. This doesn’t affect anything we did with your consent before you withdrew it.

To make a request, email support@songaimedia.com with the subject “Privacy request”. We may need to check it’s really you before we act. We’ll reply within the time your local law sets, and within one month at most. Making a request is free.

Raising a concern

If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the data protection authority where you live, including:

  • Nigeria: Nigeria Data Protection Commission
  • Kenya: Office of the Data Protection Commissioner
  • South Africa: Information Regulator
  • Ghana: Data Protection Commission
  • Uganda: Personal Data Protection Office
  • Rwanda: National Cyber Security Authority
  • United Arab Emirates: UAE Data Office
  • European Union or United Kingdom: your national data protection authority (in the UK, the Information Commissioner’s Office)

Keeping it safe

We protect your information with sensible technical and organisational measures. The website runs over encrypted connections, access to the list is limited to the people who need it, and we choose providers with strong security. No system is completely secure. If a breach puts your information at risk, we’ll tell you and the relevant authorities as the law requires.

Age

The early access list is for people aged 18 or over, or the age of majority where they live if that’s higher. We don’t knowingly collect information from children. If you think a child has given us their details, email us and we’ll delete them.

Changes to this policy

We’ll update this policy when our service or the law changes, and we’ll change the date at the top of the page. If a change significantly affects how we use your information, we’ll email you before it takes effect.
